Beginning in 1981, Mark McQuown began to create the idea of P.J. By 1984, he was ready to release his material to the public. Debuting on October 4, 1984 at the Town Hall Arts Center by the Colorado Playwrigts Festival, the play ended up winning “Best New Play” by the Denver Drama Critics Circle in 1984. The play was also played 4 years later at the Colorado Theatre Festival beginning June 3rd to 25th, 1988. Nearly 20 years later, this play would finally see the big screen, with the feature film debut of P.J.
